Crime Prevention Task Force Website Key Definitions

Prevention: Educating and teaching skills to people, specifically adolescents, enabling them to make positive choices and avoid damaging behaviors such as alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use.

Intervention: To enter into someone’s life in a helping manner with the goal of redirecting their life on a healthy path. This can be informal, in the form of a one-to-one discussion, or formal, in the form of an educational or therapeutic program.

Treatment: is the attempted management or cure of a physical or behavioral health problem, usually following a diagnosis.
